Prison Outreach Program
Since September, 2007, the Eidolon Foundation has been actively engaged in a successful prison ministry Outreach program. At least once a month, members of the Foundation, along with other volunteers, have been heading out the Southern Correctional Institute in Troy, NC, to work with inmates (both men and women) who have an interest in alternative religions and earth-based spirituality. The response, both from the inmates and the prison chaplin, has been overwhelmingly positive.

2007 Yule Ball A Success!
I just want to thank everyone who attended or who help support the Eidolon Foundation's 2007 Yule Ball. The Ball was a fantastic success this year--we could not have hoped for anything better. Approximately 45 people attended, and they came from far and wide--from as far as Columbia, SC, and Greensboro/Winston-Salem, and just about everywhere in-between.

We were delighted to have musical entertainment from the wonderful Chris Givens; bellydancing and firespinning from the Midnight Magnolias; and even more firespinning from Abraxus!

We would also like to thank the following businesses, people, and organizations for helping to make this year's Yule Ball a reality.

Jim McGuire, for letting us use his photography studio
Cire Computers (ShopRMall.com), for their sponsorship and support
The Bag Lady store, for their help in promoting the Yule Ball
Amos on South End, for helping to promote the Yule Ball
Common Market Deli, also for helping to promote the Yule Ball

The money raised from the Yule Ball will be going directly to supporting future classes, events, and activities, including a significant donation to CMPPD 2008. We're already looking forward to our next annual Yule Ball!

2007 Yule Ball
The Eidolon Foundation will be hosting its annual Yule Ball on Friday, December 14, 2007. Come out for a night of music, magic, laughter, and dancing.

What time? 8 pm to Midnight, December 14th, 2007

Where? Looks like we're going to have a fantastic location this year! Address and directions will be provided to all attendees.

What’s going on? (1)The musical stylings of Chris Givens and Discordia, (2)dancing and merriment, (3)a silent auction to benefit the Foundation and the Charlotte Metro PPD ’08, and (4)a slough of other goodies! You’ll have to come out to see all the good stuff we’ve got going on this year!!

Will there be food? Yep, probably! Still working on that angle completely, but it looks like you’ll be able to come out and enjoy some free food!

But what will I wear? This year we’re themed!! We’ve got a theme of “Fire and Ice” going on, since it is Yule we’re celebrating. You can come in a suitably themed costume if you’d like, or you can come in your semi-formal best.

Do I need money for this? Tickets are $15/person, or $25/couple if purchased in advance. Other than that, there will be a silent auction and a charity raffle, as well as some optional divinatory services rendered going on, so it might behoove you to bring some cash with you if you’d like to bid!

Charlotte PPD Fundraiser
With your help, the Eidolon Foundation was able to raise well over $100 in support of PPD! The baked goods were fantastic, and a special thanks to the Spiral Scouts for manning the bake sale and to Miles, Wally Wimmer, and Eric Katowitz for judging the bake off.

Here are the winners:

Marcia Free for her Faerie Cakes -- 1st Place
Heather Darnell for her Grandma's Ugly cookies -- 2nd Place
Virginia Wimmer for her Onion Dill bread -- 3rd Place
Virginia Wimmer for her Banana bread -- 4th Place
Lily for her chocolate chip cookies -- Honorable Mention

Look for the 1st and 2nd place recipes in the Spiral Scout cookbook, coming soon.

501(c)(3) Official
Good news, everyone. Our 501(c)(3) status is now official. The IRS has established that the Eidolon Foundation qualifies as a charitable non-profit organization, and as such, is tax-exempt, and all donations to the Eidolon Foundation are tax-deductible.

This means that any donation to the Eidolon Foundation, whether monetary, or in the form of books, or supplies, and so forth, can be deducted from your taxes. It also means the Eidolon Foundation can finally start pursuing funding from outside sources, such as grants and philanthropic organizations. We will hopefully begin this process shortly.

Having said this, we were honestly not expecting to obtain our 501(c)(3) status so quickly. We are, to say the least, pleasantly surprised. This is a remarkable achievement and we are very grateful to everyone who has helped us and supported us this past year as we worked through the challenges of this process.
