EIDÔLON is an ancient Greek word meaning "the image of an ideal". We have chosen this name because we at the Eidolon Foundation wish to create reality out of our dreams and ideals. The Eidolon Foundation is not a church or other organized religious institution, and does not promote a specific religious doctrine. Instead, the Eidolon Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting greater awareness of alternative spiritual traditions and minority religions in Charlotte, NC and the surrounding region. We are also working to provide a community center and library catering to alternative spiritual traditions, and are laying the ground work for a private or charter school that may one day be available to students of alternative religious backgrounds and/or alternative lifestyles. In order to meet these goals, the Eidolon Foundation seeks to...
- Promote greater awareness of minority religions and alternative spiritual traditions
- Support local community activities for minority religions and alternative spiritual traditions
- Foster the development of a private or charter school welcoming to diverse religious backgrounds and alternative philosophies

Announcements
Since September, 2007, the Eidolon Foundation has been actively engaged in a successful prison ministry Outreach program. At least once a month, members of the Foundation, along with other volunteers, have been heading out the Southern Correctional Institute in Troy, NC, to work with inmates (both men and women) who have an interest in alternative religions and earth-based spirituality. The response, both from the inmates and the prison chaplin, has been overwhelmingly positive.
